In March Lydia’s House recognized the St Louis Professional Women’s Alliance in this speech at their Annual Gala “A Night for Hope and Healing”: “Lydia’s House could not exist without support from generous individuals and groups. As an organization, we are lucky to work with a lot of tremendous people who are so willing to give their time, their skills, and their hearts to our mission. Tonight, we would like to recognize one group in particular. This organization has gone above and beyond in being a voice of support in the community. They hold an annual Cinco de Mayo party to benefit Lydia’s House and they put together an amazing golf tournament to benefit Lydia’s House. Over the nine years this group has been involved with Lydia’s House, they have raised over $70,000 in funds to support our programming. Even more, their members volunteer for Lydia’s House and help spread awareness of domestic violence in the St. Louis community. This is a group of empowered, professional women who have chosen to reach out and support women who are learning to find their own voice. If you are a member of the Professional Women’s Alliance, could you please stand and be recognized? It is through the support and dedication of these women that Lydia’s House is able to further our efforts to be a place of healing and a voice of hope for women and children who are escaping domestic violence. Thank you.” PWA is honored to join with Lydia’s house to help protect women from violence and offer tangible support, hope and healing. Lydia’s House offers transitional housing for battered and abused women and their children. More information about Lydia’s House can be found at lydiashouse.org.
